Hawai’i Stitchery & Fibre Arts Guild
Wednesday, July 9, 2025 - 6:30 p. m. at The Box Jelly and via Zoom
Mindfulness Stitching with Amber Coppings
For over twenty years, Amber has been facilitating creative experiences in a wide variety of school and community settings using her background as an artist, art therapist, and educator.
In this artist talk and workshop, Amber will be speaking about the ways she has incorporated mindfulness, personal expression, and mental health considerations into her educational work. She will also share some of her current artworks and how she inserts representations of personal memories into them as a way of healing from grief and injury.
Amber will be leading the group through a mark-making and stitching exercise adapted for our group from mindfulness workshops she conducted with medical health professionals and women in recovery groups. No need to be an expert in either drawing or embroidery. The emphasis will be on using the skills you already know, but with a different starting point. Amber will also share her favorite stitching tips, tools, and resources for those who want them.
Members will be sent the link to join on Zoom. Non-members: Please email hsfag808@gmail.com to request a link to Zoom.
